Chatham Avalon Park Community Council must empower the residences of the community to get involved and stay involved with the Chatham community. Therefore, our strategic plan, must ensure that each block has a strong and active block club organization (Click Here for Block Club Formation Handbook). Once a block club is formed those members will be able to eliminate drug ravaged home(s) and properties used for illegal dump sites as well as holding absentee owners accountable for the maintenance and security of their property.
Chatham Avalon Park Community Council will be the forum for all block representatives to seek support and guidance, becoming an organized voice for change against the obvious threats that will damage our community and further destabilize the value of our properties.
Chatham Avalon Park Community Council goal is to raise money to purchase and renovate some of the abandoned properties within the community and work with the block members that the properties are located in and select suitable tenants as well as collaborate with accredited and credible lenders to help individuals qualify for financing. All tenants and potential homeowners must sign an agreement and participate in a homeownership course in order to meet additional eligibility guidelines.
Chatham Avalon Park Community Council will work with local licensed contractors, particularly those that reside within the community, to assist us with rebuilding and stabilizing the single family and multifamily properties within our community. In addition,
CAPCC will identify residents that could obtain a career by working as an apprentice with the contractors.
Chatham Avalon Park Community Council would acquire abandoned commercial properties and identify businesses as well as work with resident entrepreneurs to develop businesses within the rental spaces.
All proceeds that would be generated will be reinvested into the organization in order to ensure that the organization is secure for future generations.
